Last we knew, Phat Boys BBQ was gone and this building was closed. Went by today and saw it was reopened as Tres Cafe. My wife had the whole catfish and I had the ham horseshoe (which was supposed to be hamburger but there was a misunderstanding). The food was delicious and the employees were nice and welcoming. Highly recommend this restaurant.
I know the majority of the food is breakfast items and maybe I should have stuck to that. The fajitas are by far the worst I've had. 0 flavor , I ordered The combo and everything individually just tasted like fried onions. The tortillas consisted of 3 of the smallest you can buy. I had waited to have my drink order long enough that if it had gone 30 seconds longer I'd have left. Waitress did apologize and said she was the only one to show up but there were only had 4 tables . Never checked to see how it was or if I needed anything and had to go up to get my bill. Never again!
The food was good and came out fast. My waitress was super friendly, and the place was clean and affordable. Great spot — we’ll definitely be back.
We've gone to the one Galesburg many times and love it all the time. The owner, the staff there, the food always on par! I've been to the one here in Kewanee three or four times. It first started with a five-star. And has gone downhill to today's three-star experience. We had heard rumblings that this Tres cafe was failing and we decided to give it one more. Unfortunately, what we heard was true. We will continue to drive the extra distance gladly to enjoy the original Tres cafe.
Had a lovely experience for lunch today. My wife and I stopped in for a quick lunch before our chores. Although momentarily confused by the dragons, we were encouraged to pick our own table and get comfortable. Shortly after we were handed our menus and gave our drink orders. The Tres Cafe Skillet was delicious with slight kick to keep it interesting. The toast had a sight crunch and soft center, just how I like it. The Tres Cafe Omelet was equally as delicious. Where it lacked a kick, it made up for with a tasty cheese center. The hash browns may have looked undercooked, was actually perfect. A nice crust with a wonderful soft potato center.
Kind and quick service, & delicious food. I came in for lunch on a work day, had a cheeseburger and sweet potato fries and a sprite, they got me my drink and food quickly and it was good, I ate & got out and back to work with time to spare. the sweet potato fries are cut thin, almost like a thick "chip" so they're firm/crisp, not limp and soggy like many other places. They have daily specials, too, $5.99 each, and a list of pies and cheesecake for desserts.
This morning, I set out to try Tres Cafe’s breakfast with a nice cup of coffee. My first impression upon walking in the door was nothing short of excellent. I was met with 2 bright shining smiles. Lindsay was my waitress, she knocked it out of the park. Debra, the other bright smile, was just as helpful. The meat lover’s skillet was on the menu for me. It was everything I hoped it would be. Now let’s circle back to the cup of coffee. I know everyone says their coffee is the best in town, but they would be disappointed to find that Tres Cafe, in fact, makes the best cup of coffee. The place looks great. The staff is wonderful. Compliments to the chef you bet I’ll be back. Really looking forward to trying other stuff on the menu thank you for a wonderful experience!
Very nicely appointed cafe right by the Amtrak depot. Excellent service and welcoming atmosphere. Ample portions of well executed classic diner options.
